Anyone know how to make a homemade cat trap (humane kind)?

There are a whole bunch of loose cats around my house, and none have a collar. They have been bring parasites into my yard, and my two dogs bark at them at night. The cats stay right out of the dog's reach (behind the fence) yet the dog's go nuts barking a lot at night. I'd like to humanely trap them and take them to the shelter. I went to the shelter and there is a waiting list of over 500 people for the cat traps they have, so I have to wait at least two months before I can get the traps. I was wondering if there is way to make my own traps since I have a lot of leftover half inch by 1 inch wire from my birdcage I made.

Have you tried putting an ad on Craigslist that you'd like to borrow one and perhaps you'd leave a deposit?

I also checked with the Hawaiian Humane Society and this is the only local animal control on Oahu. They have a waiting list for the humane cat traps that is two months long, like you said. They will give you two traps and you have to put down a $50 deposit. You need to bring the trapped cats in yourself, which can be a problem depending on your mode of transportation. I guess you just have the wait out the two months.
