Have you tried putting an ad on Craigslist that you'd like to borrow one and perhaps you'd leave a deposit?
Try these websites, some of them sell the trap you need to borrow for less than or just over $50:
www.livetrap.com
www.animal-care.com
www.animal-traps.com
These are directions for safely trapping:

You can rent a video for building your own here:

Good luck!

I also checked with the Hawaiian Humane Society and this is the only local animal control on Oahu. They have a waiting list for the humane cat traps that is two months long, like you said. They will give you two traps and you have to put down a $50 deposit. You need to bring the trapped cats in yourself, which can be a problem depending on your mode of transportation. I guess you just have the wait out the two months.

Check with your local animal control and see if you can rent or borrow their humane trap.
