Anyone have experience with Femoral Head Ostectamy (FHO) surgery?

My beagle / pit had an FHO about six months ago after being run over by a car and having her hip continually dislocate. I am interested if anyone else's dog has had this surgery (particularly larger dogs) and where they are at in their recovery. Also if anyone knows of a good daily pain management medication that might work for her.
