Does anyone else feel that it is always a Friday evening or Saturday morning when their dog gets sick,(making it much more difficult if not impossible to see a vet)?

I always find that it is just when the house is spotless, ready for me to have a large gathering, the furniture has been rearranged, that Mishu has one of her pancreatitis attacks!. I keep medicine on hand for this, and give it to her at the first sign. However, there have been other emergency times when Dr. Peebles was not open, and i called Dr. Sweat at home. He is always calming and helpful! Judy S.

I am blessed with a vet who gave me her cell phone number. I call her, she tells me if she thinks it's an emergency visit or if I can follow her directions and wait until first thing Monday morning. Usually it can wait, only had one time it was definitely an emergency.

I'm lucky because I have had a couple of emergencies at night and I don't live far from the Univ of Pa Vet Hosp, it certainly costs more than my Vet., but in an emergency I really don't have a choice & they are excellent, very rarely do we have an emergency at a normal time.

I have fortunately not had too many late night vet visits as such, but when I worked for an ambulance comapny, people always decided to go nutso late at night (or when my shift was almost over). Love those trips to the looney bin late at night!

Wow, you're lucky you actually get a sick pet on the weekend instead of in the middle of the week like we do. It's a real pain to find time while working to take your pet to the vet.

I have to agree.. I'm a vet. technician and everyone calls in Friday, Saturday, and Monday with their dogs not eating, vomiting, ADR, etc. It's crazy!
