My cat has had asthma for about two years (she's only 3) and has an inhaler and has been on prednisone.,,,but it's still scary to watch her hack. I'm sure the environment in my house is bad but I've installed filters in every room and not much has changed. Advice???

I don't know if you have changed any of these things, but here are a list of possible suspects:

Cat litter- clay litter especially, has dust particles that could irritate her, especially if her litter box has a cover on it.

If you use air fresheners, febreeze, hairspray, perfume, etc., (pretty much anything that sprays!)they might be irritating as well-try stopping use and see if it helps.

Also, if you have a fireplace, or you smoke cigarettes, that may be why. I try to wash my hands whenever I come back in from smoking, because my cat get's a little sneezy if I don't.

Also, just like humans, mold, grass, etc. can also be a problem.

I would suggest that you experiment with different changes slowly, and see which ones improve her health. That way you will know exactly what is irritating her asthma and try to avoid it.
