My cat LOVES all cat treats, but he just swallows them whole and doesn't really taste or chew them. I'm wondering if there is a cat treat that dissolves in his mouth or something that will get him to chew.. And his teeth and gums are perfectly fine, it doesn't hurt, and he still eats his regular hard dry cat food. Thanks for any answers I will get!!!!!

I have a cat who enjoys chewing things. I bought him "Cat Chew Treats" by N-Bone. They're shaped like a long thin stick which most definitely can not be swallowed without chewing bits off. They're also all natural. I found them at a local pet store.

Pawbreaker Catnip Ball. It's literally a large catnip treat in the shape of human jawbreaker candy they can lick and play with. I would imagine though you cant leave it lying around or it will get dirty.

I had a vet tech recommend using Hills Feline T/D as a treat and gave me a sample at a pet show. It's a large kibble and has to be chewed to swallow. My vet said it was OK so I had them order it for me. It's a prescription diet. My old cat loves it. She gets these treats everyday. She can have as many as she wants since it actually a food and not a fattening treat, but don't tell her that. She thinks it a treat. The bag was kind of expensive but not when you look at it as a huge bag of kitty treats; it's not expensive. It's way cheaper per ounce as a kitty treat than greenies and other cat treats.
I've also tried C.E.T. Chews for cats. It's the largest. It's has an enzyme which helps reduce tarter build up. None of my cats will touch it although I've known other cats that like it.
You can also try Royal Canin Maine Coon cat food. That's really large kibble and forces kitties to chew their food. Read the label; it's great stuff. I mix that in my cats food to force them to slow down and chew their food. You can find it at Petco and Petsmart.
