She is on medication and has an inhaler but still hacks all the time. I've put air filters up throughout the house but it really isn't helping a lot. I wonder if other people with asthmatic cats have any advice.

I don't know if this will be helpful but I had to change my cat litter because it triggered my 6 year old cat to have an asthma attack. She has been sickly since she was little so we are always watching her but changing the litter to a almost dust free kind has made a huge differnce. Champ goes in to the vet tomorrow for weight loss:( Not sure whats going on with her now.....

Three vets said my cat had asthma. She didn't. I forget exactly what the vet called it something to do with the respiratory tract and herpes virus. Two $10 prescriptions of Antirobe Aquadrops Clindamydin (2ML 1 time per day for my 8 pound cat) cleared it right up. The vet said I probably brought it home from the shelter where I volunteer. To keep my cat healthy whenever I work with the shelter cats I give my cat Duralactin as a preventative. I also change my clothes the minute I get home.

I had a cat who 'developed' asthma when we moved from the desert to Atlanta. He took meds for it, and I stopped allowing him to go out onto our screened in porch. The vet didn't offer us an inhaler. Your kitty must have some serious asthma. You can always go to another vet for a second opinion if the regiment your on isn't solving the problem. Do you think a humidifier would help??
