Angel Eyes works really good. It helps with a lot of small dogs that always have the drainage that discolors there hair. It is a powder you put on or in there food or water. It has no taste or color but works from the inside. Not messy or anything.

I have a newfoundland mix that has a similar problem. I was told a possibility for the problem is that he has little hairs (silia) on the inside of the eyelid that is actually iritating the eye. A vet that specializes in eye care can remove the hairs. I have not yet taken my dog to the eye doctor, but nothing else has worked. The drops and antibiotics work when there is an actual infection of some sort. Problem is this happens even when there is not an infection. It is at that point that the vet's explanation makes sense.
