I agree with the second poster to this problem. I went to the store and bought a big roll of packing tape, It is clear. I took one long strip and laid it along the edges of the table, counter and even the one sofa I did not want Smitty on. He jumped up there and felt the tape. He tried it a couple more times and realized it was not very enjoyable. I liked the clear packing tape because unlike masking tape he could not tell it was there. Masking tape being off white he could see if it was there or not, then decide whether or not he should try it. I would have the tape there a couple days in a row. Then take a couple days with it off then reapply it. He learned in about a week. It has been 6 years and still we have the territory feline free. Good Luck.

Cats like to climb and perch in high places; a table is therefore attractive--even if it doesn't have any food on it. If you see your cat as part of your family (which you should), then it is Jupiter's home as much as it is yours. You can harrass your cat to keep her off of the table, but guess where she probably is once you leave?? She doesn't understand WHY she isn't allowed on the table. She just wants a better view of her family, as well as a higher place to feel more secure in her home. People tower over her--but not so much when she is on the table or counters.
You need to provide Jupiter with a more attractive "hang out"--a place that she'd rather go to. I'd suggest buying a cat tree or similar piece of furniture. Initially place it near the table so that she has a choice; she'll probably choose the tree. You can later relocate the tree to be near a window or other desirable location. You could also try making Jupiter her own table--similar in height to your tables, but put a Purr Pad on it and maybe sprinkle it with catnip. To make her table even more inviting, put her food and/or a treat on it. Once she realizes she has her own nice table, she won't be as interested in yours.

Try putting tape on the table as a deterrent. Fold it as though you we're going to tack it on the back of a picture to hang on the wall only place it on the table they don't like it on thier paws.
