Approximately 4 -5 million animals are put to sleep in shelters every year. Why? Because there are not enough homes for them and not enough people are spaying and neutering their pets. When you are working on the "front lines" and you have to put these innocent animals to sleep every single day, I think these people have every right to suggest to someone that they adopt from a shelter first. Shelters have pure bred dogs. If you are looking for a specific breed you should try a shelter or rescue group first. Every single pure bred dog also has a rescue group. Every time a dog is purchased by a breeder or worse yet from a pet store, a dog in a shelter loses another chance at getting adopted. It's not being rude, it's being passionate about all the homeless animals that have ended up in shelters through no fault of their own. If you have never been to a shelter, you should visit one.

You know, zootoo admin should really put some controls in place to keep children off the site. The OP of this question has proven a few times that she is an ill-mannered 12 year old. If her parents can't keep her from posting inflammatory things, perhaps zootoo can?

I went back and read your original question about whether or not you should get a large dog or a small dog. I also read all of the responses, and while some of them were very straightforward, none of them were rude. Judging from the way you phrase your questions and statements, and your grammatical errors, it seems that you may be young and lack the experience to properly handle an animal that will need continuous training. This is in no way a rude insult to you, but you need to realize that when you ask a question like you did to a very passionate group of people, like zootooers, that you are asking for their opinions. You are going to get some very strong answers, some of which you may not like. You also stated in your rant that zootooers need to mind their own business. Well, you asked the question and made it zootoo business. I own 2 dogs myself, one is a purebred Aussie from a breeder and one is a rescue. I love them both, but I will from now on always adopt from a rescue or shelter. There is a major problem with overbreeding in this country and responsible pet ownership is the only way to get a handle on it. You are on a site full of people that share this belief. In my humble opinion, you show a lack of maturity by your response to the community's answers. This is a red flag to me that suggests that you may also lack the maturity to handle a pet at this time.
