To get grants and funding you will generally need to have an established track record for the program. !st I would apply for status as a 501C3. Then do a grass roots fund raising among the community, as those who give grants will generally want to see some level of community involvement. Perhaps get in contact with the leaders of your local 4H programs and Vets who specialize in large breeds, and any local ranchers organizations to help you get the ball rolling both with money and volunteers.

It's a tough time to get funding for new programs right now. Because of the economy, it's really difficult to get grants, especially if you don't have non-profit status yet. I would start small, maybe do some rummage sales, carwashes and dinner fundraisers.

to some fundraisers. You can sell anything from candy, childrens books, pony rides, ect. Do a google search for fundraisers as I did it when running a daycare and was with a wonderful group that if I sold kids books they would give me so much money for the cause I wanted. Good Luck!! We do therapy work with our horses also!

Good Luck. There is a great place in NJ doing the same kind of work called Mylestone Equine. Look them up

This is a great idea for troubled kids! Kudos!! I wish you well and please let me know if you get non-profit status, I may be able to do something to help.
