Q: Will my cats ever get along?

I recently got a new, female cat and both of my male cats, who are bonded and who have been together for 3 years hate her! :-( they hiss and growl and bat at her even when she tried to lick them. It's been a week I've had her now and I know that is still early but I feel like my two boy cats have ganged up on her. I want them all to get along. My toby gets so jealous if I hold her or pet her. He gives me the evil eye and runs from me. Why can't we all just get along? How long is this going to last? will they ever make peace?

Some cats may learn only to tolerate each other's presence in the house and will not form any bonds. They may just stay away from each other. You'll need to give it a lot more time to see what happens. As long as there are no serious cat fights where injury occurs, then I would not worry. Your cats may not be happy about her presence, but they may be able to learn to live with it. Also, it helps to gradually introduce the new cat. Provide her with a separate room and kitty litter if possible. You'll just need to give them all some time to adjust to the new situation.

I have the same problem. I have a6 year old cat and 2 7 month old kittens. )one kitten I just got a few weeks ago). The two kittens get along fine but my older cat just wants to be left alone. After a while they will all get along some. They may never be best friends ut be able to live in harmony. Good Luck

cats are a peculiar animal. I had 5 cats in the house at one time. The oldest and first cat will tolerate most of the the cats except the boys. They still don't get along after 10 years. They give each other their space but occasionally there is a cat fight, which the dog breaks up rather quickly.
My daughter brought home a kitten from college break and it wants to be friends with them all. My 3 year old cat will have nothing to do him, he hisses and runs away.

So, I really think it depends on their personality. Good Luck! Just make sure you have enough food, water, litter areas so they don't have to be afraid of going there.
