I feel that people who go through the expense of keeping their pets safe should be rewarded, and what better way then having a tax credit. You would have to show proof of spay and neutoring papers, shot records, county license papers, receipts for flea and tick protection, de-wormers and even grooming costs. Maybe then people would go through the steps to take care better care of their 4-legged kids.

I agree that it would be nice if all of us who are responsible and get our 4-legged kids spayed or neutered, vaccinated, etc. got some kind of a tax break. It is the same as having a 2-legged kid and getting to write off medicals expenses for them. We had to take one of our 4-legged kids to the doctor several times last year because he is accident prone and he cost us quite a bit of money...however even with no tax break we will still take better care of our kids than ourselves because they mean that much to us.

I agree with you to a point. I love my four dogs more than I love most people. But with your idea there is probably stupid people out there that will do this but then forget about there pets for the rest of the year! But bottom line I have my dogs because I love them. If I could have more I would!

I agree with spaying, neutering, vaccines and licenses getting a tax deduction. As we have four adopted pets, we joked about getting a shelter I.D. number. The reality is that we have these animals, because we love them. We made the decision to save them, because we have the freedom to do so. I wonder if getting deductions would promote hoarding.
