If you're not feeding a grain-free good quality food, your kitty may be eating more to to get full and satisfied. A high quality cat food will contain more nutrients by weight than a low-quality food so smaller portions are required to provide the same amount of nutrition. Some cats can't be free-fed, so you may need to pick up food in between feeding times to keep him/her from nibbling throughout the day.

Maybe you feed him or her too much.

Since you added all the info after the smiley face I can tell you're definitely feeding too much. Cut the food amount in half and divide it up into a couple of meals a day, morning and evening. Don't feed cheap, grocery store shelf food. Instead get a high quality meat-based food, free of grains and by-products. She won't eat as much and will be more satisfied.
