My one cat, Nikki, howls all the time. One night I got up out of bed because I thought something must be wrong with him. He was howling over his toys as he played with them! Go figure. I don't think you have anything to worry about as some of the other answers you've been given suggest.

Is he intact? If so, it might be that he's aware of a female in season and wanting to pursue 'that'. Other than that, you'll need someone who is more cat savvy than I. Thankfully there is no lack of that on zootoo!

you might watch him closely when he does this, if he does it when hes trying to go pee, it could mean a blockage and he'll need to see a vet right away!Or he could be in pain somewhere, maybe when he walks sometimes. it could be all sorts of things, just watch him closely. Good luck and i hope you figure out why he howls.
