Why does my cat's breath smell so bad?

My cat has really bad breath. Everytime he licks or open his mouth we can smell it. I have looked at his teeth and they look good. Also my vet didn't say there was anything wrong.

It could be any number of things such as a bad tooth, rotting food, perhaps using all wet food as opposed to dry food, or your pet's teeth need a good cleaning.
I know when one of my guys wake up from a nap, their breath is kind of rough-just like ours.
There are products you can buy to brush your cats teeth, but they won't like you for it!

Make an appointment just for the bad breath problem rather than mentioning it during a yearly exam. Your cats doctor will understand that you are serious and not just complaining about cat breath if you make an appointment just to exam the bad breath problem. You could also ask your vet for a referral to a veterinary dental specialist in your area if you'd like a second opinion.

Did the Vet really check the teeth good? Sometimes it is hard to keep the mouth open long enough to really get a good look without putting them under first.
