Your cat probably thinks the socks are toys. The strangest things - and the cheapest - seem to keep them happy. My cat goes crazy for q-tips. Go figure! lol

My cat Snickers does this also, but I think the reason she does it is because she thinks that the roles of socks are her babies. When our younger cat was a kitten snickers would treat him like he was hers. So our cat really wants to be a mom.

Our cat Muffin does this, but also with small towels and washcloths. She'll steal the hand towels etc from the bathroom stand, and sometimes the towel from the kitchen that I hang on the handle of the oven. I remember one morning we got up and there were about 7 washclothes and towels making a trail from the bathroom lol! She loves my daughter's socks too, whether clean or washed. I think she's just playing with whatever she's in the mood to play with that particular moment. Ahhhh....life with cats...

One of my cats does this as well. They are rolled up and she likes to play with them.

It has your smell. It probably is a comfort thing, they like having something of yours close. Like toddlers like the feel of a cushy teddy bear. Be thankful it's just socks. I had a cat who would steal my bras out of the laundry and hide them in his bed!
