My cat has begun to fetch. Should I worry about this dog-like behavior?
Worry that your cat plays fetch? You should be thrilled you didn’t have to teach the cat this useful and healthful behavior.
Most cats consider fetching way beneath their dignity: “Chasing things that fly through the air or scurry along the floor — that we will do. Bring it back? Do you know who you’re talking to?” Lucky for some of us, a select few cats “invent” and willingly engage in the game of fetch, even without seeing a dog do it first. So play along. It’s great exercise for the cat (and for your pitching arm) and teaches you and your feline playmate coordination.
Who needs a dog, with a fetching cat around?
