Why does my cat lick everything??? I'm afraid she's going to lick something that will make her sick

She seems to be obsessed with licking -- not herself -- but all of us (dogs, other cats, friends) She got sick earlier this year and I can't help but wonder if she licked something poisenous to her system.

If she is licking other family members, it could just be a grooming and loving act. If she is licking inanimate objects such as blankets, tables and such it could mean that she has something called PICA. It is an obsessive eating and licking of inedible objects. It could be very serious if she does eat or lick something posionious. If she is an inside cat it is easy to keep her from eating posionious items because you have control of what is put down on the floors in your house. If she is goes outside, I would worry a little more because you don't know where is going or where she's been. Some of the things that you can do around the house is either buy a bitter orange no bite spray from the pet store and spray things that she likes to lick. Or you can try vinegar or you can make a pepper solution...just add crushed red pepper to water in a spray bottle and spray this on items that she licks. Just becareful with this because it can harm your fabrics...and make sure she had plenty of water. You should discuss with your vet about what your cat is licking. They might have a better idea of what to do for this problem. They might have some solutions. I hope this helps.

I have a boy cat who likes to lick me back after I have been petting him,but it stops there. My girl cat loves her haunches rubbed and does a licking motion to the air when i rub her alot . It is really funny.
