Keeping our cat in the cat carrier with a blanket over it so that he can't see the motion outside the windows helps.

don't feed him before you go, you can also ask th evet for a sedative for the ride, it will be easier for bot of yoy!

My veterinarian suggested an over-the-counter drug called Bonine for my dog who got car sick. Howver, you definitely need to talk to your vet before giving your cat any medication, since their metabolisms are so different from humans or dogs.
