why does my cat eat so much????

Everyday I feed my cat and he eats the whole thing in about an hour. Then about 30 minets later he will start meowing by his food asking for more. I don't want to give him too much so I don't feed him till later. Am I doing something wrong?

My orange cat is the same way. He would eat constantly if we let him. At his last vet visit he weighed 18 pounds, he gained 4 punds in a year! The vet told me to only feed him twice a day because some cats are just like that, would eat and eat and eat. He also said if they get to be over 20 pounds they have a much greater chance of becoming diabetic so i am diligent in keeping on his diet, no matter how hungry he says he is.

We have the same problem. Seems like one of my cats doesn't want to leave any food for the others, so she tries to eat as much as possible. Try to give him only very small portions and remove any leftovers till later.

My cat, Okie, is the same way. I think some cats do this out of boredom. Okie was a stray, and when my brother and his wife found him, he was skinny as a rail and starving. I wonder if his early life was so rough, he's afraid he won't get enough to eat. He's always fussing for food. I try to be careful about the amount, but he won't lay off the dry food. The other cats nibble as well, but not like Okie.
