Q: why does it still sayNot yet participated in Pet Wars if added when joined

It takes time, there are 1,000's of pics that need to be rotated thru pet wars. Give it time. It took about 1 week before mine were on.

It can take awhile for pets to show up in the rotation. It took some of my pets about 2 weeks to participate.
