uh they are showing you there love by giving you kisses.

It is probably due to a couple reasons. Hannah (below) pointed out the most significant: it is a sign of love! But it may also be a way of "claiming you" --you will smell like the "licker", and your hand may taste good.

have to agree with Michele. They show their love as well as "mark" you with their scent.
