Both my cats, domestic rescue cats, love to chew on plastic bags. Do you think they just like the crinkle sound?

I had three part-Siamese cats who loved to lick plastic bags. They were the only ones that ever did this, so I don't know if it's common with the breed or what. Jimmy, the cat I have now, likes to play in the bags and sometimes tears them, but doesn't eat or lick on them.

I'm not sure why some cats chew on plastic bags. I have two cats and one loves to do it and the other never goes near them. I try to keep them out of sight, but he is a smart cat and if he sees an opportunity to chew on one he does.

I think they just like the sound too, but I'd try my best to keep the bags away from your kitties!

My cat loves to play with a plastic bag. He never has tried to chew on it. I wouldn't allow your cat to chew on one.

I wrote a journal entry a couple of weeks back
that my cat had this habit of sucking on plastic.
I was very worried as to her eating this and
ingesting the plastic into her intestines. We have had her for 6-1/2 years and she is still into the licking process
on the bags but not eating any part of it.
Can't really give you a concrete answer as to why she
enjoys this but I am constantly observing this habit
and will ask the vet about this at her next visit.
You are probably thinking why didn't I ? this before but
I guess I didn't find it a problem since she wasn't
eating it.
If you find an answer to this let me know.

Maybe but doesn't sound like something you should encourage or allow to continue.
