I was just wondering does anyone know why do dogs like to stick their heads out of moving car windows but they don't like it if you blow in their faces?

I think mine likes it because of all the smells! She gets the biggest kick out of going for rides-it doesn't matter where we go as long as she gets to go too!

The smells! The wind carries so many wonderful intoxicating smells! As far as blowing in their faces - I think it's because it provides a different sensation.

The smells of are probably one reason, but I find that they are also able to point their heads forward, which prevents them from getting motion sickness. You never see them looking back with their head out the window.

There is a lot of action going on outside when a dog is in a car. I'm sure the scent of the out doors in very enticing. I would only crack the back windows a bit just to keep my dog safe.

My boys have never told me why they love to stick their head out the window, but I think it has to do with all the smells.

My guess is that the air coming from the outdoors has a lots of great, unfamiliar scents in it. I don't allow my dogs to put their heads out the window while driving, although I'm sure they would love it. Too dangerous with debris in the eyes or face.

I would first say for the curiosity of
what's going on, but I will tell you I
would not allow them to do this as my
most concern would be any flying debri
that could get in their eyes or nose.
