Q: Why do dogs cough?
The past few mornings when I have up and in the afternoon when I get home from work my dog is "coughing". Thats the best way I can describe it, it is kind of like a hacking noise but she does not vomit. Any ideas suggestions or remedies please share!

A trip to the vet is in order. Your dog might have a "doggie cold" - - kennel cough. A dog shouldn't be coughing for no reason.

I think I would check with a Vet, they do cough once in a while, maybe dust or something but if your pet has been kenneled with other other dogs or if she is new to your home it could be kennel cough, if she pulls on the the leash she could have damaged her esophagus, there are probably allot of things that could be wrong or it could be nothing, but I would have a Vet take a look, she shouldn't be coughing every day
