Mr. B. is 4 months old, coming out of parvo, sensitive stomach, on a special diet, and I caught him this morning, eating his poop! We had caught him twice before in the last couple of months doing this, but since then we watch him when we take him out and pick up poop in the yard, but this morning, while I was brushing my teeth, he had an accident, on his puppy pad :) , but then I caught him eating it!! Yuck!! Should I worry? I can't get the stuff to give him to deter him from eating it, but the meds will make him have diarrhea.... ???? By the way - this is his diet per day :), so I don't think it's the protein??:

1 cup of canned perscription Purina EN
1 cup of boiled boneless chicken
1 cup of rice
1 cup of dry food (which is dry Purina EN)
Total of 4 cups of food per day (1 and 1/3 cups - 3 times per day) Plus he gets a packet of Fortiflora once a day to try and curb the parvo diarrhea.

Your dog might not be getting enough protien from his food. You should go to a vet before it starts effecting his health. hope it heled

One of my dog eats poop also. I was told, in her case, it could be because she was raised in a cage @ a puppy mill & the dominate dog in the cage ate all the food so, in turn, she had no choice but to eat the dominate dogs poop. She always has an upset stomach. So...i would have to say it due to lack of "something" in her daily diet.
