Q: Why can't I upload pictures from my new digital camera?

First, I'd like to wish you all a happy new year. As far as my question goes, I've tried to upload pictures to zootoo that were taken on my new digital camera and zootoo says that I can't because they're too large. Does anyone know how to get around this? I guess it probably has something to do with the formating but I'm not well versed at all in this stuff.

Do you have photoshop on your computer? If so, bring up your photo, go to Image, click on "Image Size" and in the box that says "width" under "pixel dimensions," enter 2000 or less. That size works for me. You don't want to make it too small.

Are you taking the memory disk/san disk card and putting it into your pc or are you plugging the phone up to the pc via data cable? If you're using the data cable it's the same as when you were uploading pics straight from your pc's hard drive/memory.

So, what I suggest that you do...this should be what you're missing is: when the drop down comes up for picture uploading you have to select the correct drive for it to pull the pix straight from your cable via the data cable. I'm thinking that is all that's wrong and I hope this helps. I have to upload pics that way from my BlackBerry or I can email the pix to my main email address and save to pc then to thumb drive (I do not keep my pix on my hard drive should it crash and I lose all of those precious moments)! I can also move them directly from BB to thumb drive via the cut and paste option. It's not hard!

Oh, and Happy New Year and A Belated Very Merry Christmas to you!

it's likely you have the resolution on your camera set high. this is a good thing for quality photos, but depending on the site you're uploading to you may have stricter limitations on size. go to the menu on your camera and look for photo size or resolution and try lowering it. you may have to look through your menu for a similar term. as long as it's 7 or 8 mp, your photos should turn out crisp w/o being too large.
if you have photoshop, open them and right click the top bar of each pic. click on "image size" and change it to 72 resolution., making sure there is an x in the bottom box labeled "resample image". 72 is quality for internet, you only need it set to 300 for photos you want to print.
cropping images also helps. i use photoshop so i don't know of any free sources online, but i'm sure they exist. try searching for "free photo editing".
