Q: Which event would you choose?

February 26, 2009 | By Acr2z | 22 answers | Expired: 2050 days ago

I am putting together a fundraiser for a local shelter that I volunteer with, and I was which venue would appeal to dog lovers more. A formal silent auction and fundraising dinner or an out side event with food, entertainment, and a silent auction at a dog park where your dogs could play together. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

OUtside events which allow the pet owner to bring the family and pet always seem to do better!
Good Luck

I would like the outside event that includes dogs. Most of your supporters are animal lovers/owners so I think they would enjoy this more than a more formal event. Plus it would be different from any other organization. Anyone can do the formal stuff.

I vote for outside with the dogs. My favorite no kill shelter and rescue hosts a day long fundraising event every fall complete with contests, silent auction, professional photographer with the mascot, vendors, tricks, shows, etc. My older dog loves it (as do I ) and the group raises thousands of dollars every year. Because it is dog friendly, they are also able to bring their dogs and cats who are available for adoption. It's a wonderful chance for the public to see the adorable babies... and dozens are adopted that day.

i would plan an outside event! especially with winter almost over in a few months. people love to show off their dogs and what better way than with other like-minded people and for a good cause. :-)

the outside event will allow the people to bring their animals and that is the target audience in most cases. We have multiple fund raisers all year long but the outside ones like a dog wash or anything like that is more successful

definately depends on who you want to attract. If you want to attract the more high end donators... the dinner/auction thing is your best bet... but if you are looking for the everyday average joe...than focus on the outside event. Depends on what you want for attendees... do you want a large number of people willing to make small donations or possibly a smaller group who will likely be willing to make large donations? Focus is definately the key.

I think in light of the economy right now, less people may be willing to spend money on both a dinner and silent auction. I think that an outside event would be best, but that is only my opinion. What could be better than a beautiful day, mingling, and fresh air?

I like outside events that I can bring my dogs to - so we can all enjoy ourselves and help with raising funds for a good cause!

Our shelter has an outside event incorporated with a community event that is held in and around a park setting. We take shelter dogs and cats that are available for adoption and have a pamphlet showing what is necessary to adopt. We also have baked goods for sale and a donation bucket.
