Q: Which event would you choose?

I am putting together a fundraiser for a local shelter that I volunteer with, and I was which venue would appeal to dog lovers more. A formal silent auction and fundraising dinner or an out side event with food, entertainment, and a silent auction at a dog park where your dogs could play together. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I think the outside event sounds great and would be most effective, with the economy. You might not want to invite pets-just because not all get along with each other but you could incorporate adoption of some pets from the shelter you are trying to raise money for and have them there for people to see and play with.

The outside events sounds very nice and social, but it may not turn out as you might hope with all of the animals outside. Not all dogs like other dogs. If people are truly passionate about the fundraiser, I believe a silent auction and dinner would be appropriate.

They would appeal to different types of people. It's good to have lots of different types of fundraisers! The outdoor event would appeal to the folks who go places with their dogs. So you could advertise with flyers at dog parks in the week or two before. The dinner and silent auction might appeal more to folks who aren't as mobile-- including maybe business folks in town who would support your cause.
