Q: Where to begin with a fundraiser!

I’m seriously thinking about starting a fundraiser that would benefit the animals in my area. I’ve never done this and I don’t know where to start. I’d like to do something different and unique. Any suggestions??

Check out a "home pet party", like a tuperware party but for pet supplies, donate the proceeds to a rescue or animal shelter. Most of these give you a flat amount towards supplies for hosting the party then a percentage of what's sold at the party. If the "consultant" is in a giving mood they may even share a portion of their take to the rescue/shelter.
The local rescue here has had a Mary Kay party that the consultant donated all of her proceeds to the rescue, they raised 300. They set up a Monday Night Football Pool with 50% going to the rescue and 50% going to the winner of the pool. They had a local photographer donate pictures and time to take pics of pets with the Easter Bunny (see my pic) and raised over 500. When I had my yardsale I donated 10% to the rescue and took donations for a dog in the rescue that needed an expensive surgery, raised 200 from just MY yard sale--maybe a block yardsale with a portion or all going to the rescue/shelter. Here in AZ the car washes are always a huge success (but we normally get the Fire Dept to do the wash and there's nothing quite like a shirtless firemen to draw the ladies in). We are currently in the planning stages of a pet costume parade/competition on Halloween, charging a few dollars to enter and getting local businesses to donate prizes.
Good luck!!
