Cindy

I shop at Wal-mart, grocery stores, and Pet Stores such as Pet Smart or Petco
Where do you find the most reasonable priced pet food? Pet-Smart vs Petco? Wal-mart vs them all?

If there is one in your area check out Tractor Supply, I use the clay litter from there and my cat food. It isnt all about farm stuff, has a lot of great items.

I prefer to feed my dogs brand name foods, particularly Science Diet. After searching out several stores, the cheapest place we found was Orschelns. They carry high quality food (not only Science Diet) and it's cheaper than at the Veterinary Clinic or Petco. The variety of flavors is excellent as is the selection of sizes of bags. This is the only place I will buy my pet food.

I think that Walmart has better prices on dog food than most of our pet stores. The problem is that most of the dog food that Walmart sells just doesnt have the same quality as some of the brands the pet stores carry. Personally we shop for the quality so we do pay a little more but we feel the benefits (less poo) are worth it. :)

We get our cat food at Walmart, and actually get the cheap Walmart brand or Purina most of the time. We were getting more expensive food for them, and it ended up making them sick. For some reason, they do better on cheaper food- maybe because that's what they started out with.

We have used Flint River Ranch food for years. They deliver it by mail to the house and it is always fresh baked. Some pet foods may seem expensive, but are really more economical beecause you feed less and the animals are healthier. We have a very large dog and really very little yard waste. She does well on half of what is recommended for her size. A lot of skin problems in dogs are from food allergies and poor nutrition so using a quality food can help keep the Vet bills down and the animals happier.

I have found that Pet Supplies Plus has the best prices, especially when they are having a sale.

We live in Iowa, where there are a lot of stores that cater to rural living - i.e: Farm and Fleet, Theisens. Theses type of stores generally have a large pet food/product selection that spans the price range. I get all my cat and rat products there and am very satisfied. If you are in the vicinity of this type of store, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

If you want cheap/semi ok..try walmart. A little better up the scale is Petco, Petsmart and Petsupermarket. Best places are make it yourself, find where breeders or 4-hers go(they know their stuff and prices). Farm and Feed type places are good too!
