Q: Where are all the " Rescue " groups ?
Where do the so-called Mutt animals go .To sleep , I'm guessing. Concerning cats & dogs , I personally , have taken in , at least , 25 animals. Just strays & throw-aways.Just becouse I can't watch any thing hungry or scared and alone. This is just in the last few years. God know how many in my life. Never ever , have I had a " rescue " group take one in.
First of all , they need to be a pure-bred , Secondly , there are no phone numbers to call. If ther are numbers , there is a message machine , but never a return call .
When I lived in the hills in Ga. I just kept a growing " family " of pet's.They are now in the care of family members ,due to family ilness I am now here.So , I was wondering , If there is no way to contact these caring " rescue people " , What good are they to the average " alley cat " ? I'm guessing if he don't get run over on this busy road , eventually , animal control will catch him.
so , if any one know's of any agency that can actually " help " please respond. I did appriciate the earlier answers.

where i live there are a few groups who will take in animals as spots open up. b/c of the economy, these places are booked. now any strays or throw-aways land in the laps of the small percentage of people willing to share their home w/them. i'm never w/o fosters and the few cats i have tried to get into rescues have been refused. there is a group in my area that, even though they can't personally take any, will donate their own funds to have the animals fixed.
there will never be a shortage of animals in need and i know how frustrating it is to think of how few options they have, but us fosters just have to suck it up and keep doing what we're doing. when you put this much effort into helping animals, it's very easy to grow jaded of people and get pissed off at society. my mom always use say to me, "you can't save them all" and i would tell her, "but you can save the ones you meet" - that's the same philosophy rescues, shelters, and fosters have to use. if they took in every animal that needed help, all the animals would suffer from the conditions. though i hate doing it, i turn down everyone that calls me about a stray. i just don't have the room, time, or money and there's too many sad faces in my own backyard. always remember that these organizations are full for a reason. they may be turning your calls away, but they're getting animals from somewhere.
rescues aimed at a specific breeds normally accept dogs that are mixed w/that breed, so always find the right rescue and maybe your luck will change.

Jillian said it well .. there are just so many out there.. I know the rescue groups I have talked with in my area are swamped and overloaded with animals. They rely on foster homes as most don't have kennels or their own housing/ shelter for these animals. With things the way they are; every rescue is losing foster families.. you have to be able to feed your immediate family taking on an extra mouth is sometimes bank breaking.. alot of rescues concentrate on the e-list. They are taking highly adoptable or those that need medical care and helping them.. strays usually end up on the e-list so in a round about way they are taking them in. It is hard to be upset when everyone can only do so much and they are as upset and frustrated as anyone else. It would be great to be able to save them all.. but that would require everyone's assistance and that is a long shot but a wonderful dream.

I think Debby gave the most realistic answer. Since she works voluteeering in that field I would trust it. Jillian makes some good points too. EVERYTHING is topsy turvy now economics wise and I truly feel the best thing we can do is insist on true political change and this country and not vote the same policies in due to prejudices or relying on sound bite war-like politics any longer with no solutions, only accusations and endlessly making fun of someone's middle name when they run for office. It can only lift every sad ship if we do, animal and human. I have no answers with whole families living under bridges in the good old USA.
