After seeing the damage caused by a collar that got imbedded under a cat's armpit, I will never put another collar on my cats.

You can put the collar on her as soon as it fits, but make sure it is a break away collar in case she gets caught on something it will break instead of hanging her. You also need to besure you put some kind of ID on that collar so if she gets lost she will be returned. Congrats on yoour new kitten!

I think it's a good idea, might not help with some people( in saying that because my pup has a pink collar and some people still ask). make sure it's quick release and you might even want a bell on it. :)

I agree that a breakaway collar is best or the idea about one with velcro is also good. Collars come in different sizes so you can look for the smallest size and work with it from there. Congratulations from me also on a new furbaby!

I think she is plenty old enough now and would put one on her just in case she gets out of the house. A break away is a must and you can get them in lots of pretty colors & designs, certainly pink! There are some that stretch so that the cat can get it over his head if she becomes caught on something and there are those that will break if it becomes caught. I like the ones that break best. Congrats on your new little bundle of energy!!

My husband's sister gave us a kitten that was about that old a few years ago and she had this special velcro kitten collar on him. It was adjustable so you could use it as the kitten grew and it would easily rip apart if the cat would get stuck on something. We weren't really into collars for our cats so we didn't use it for long.

That all changed when one of our older cats decided to take a stroll outside on his own about 6 mths ago. We searched for him for 3 days and thankfully we were able to find him and bring him back home!

We immediately bought collars for the cats with tags that had our phone number, etc. on it. I absolutely agree with the break away collar comments. This is especially important if they do get outside where it would be easy to get stuck on a branch, etc. It's great to have the collar/tag to protect them but it's also important to make sure that it doesn't do more harm than good!

Good luck finding the perfect collar! There are so many cute choices out there! :)

Because she's still a kitten I would just put it on her when you're around so that she can get used to it. She probably runs around spastically like my kitten. When she gets older and calms down more and is more sure of her surroundings and what is what she will be less likely to accidentally do something and get caught on her collar.

I'd suggest when the rabies vaccination is given however it is important to use a break away or stretch collar. It is a safety issue. My cat wore his however I hear most cats take it off.

A break-away collar so the kitten doesn't accidentally hang himself!

Yes but I would make sure it is a good fit, or maybe a break away collar so she does not choke.
