Q: When can I start feeding my kittens Cat food?

You could start feeding them adult food now or when they turn a year.

The shelter told us to start them on adult food when they turned a year old.

I switched my cats over to cat food when they were 9 months old. I think think its safe to switch them over to adult food. Just make sure you introduce the food gradually. So they get used to the new food.
