DO NOT do this yourself... it needs to be dont by a VET... there are so many things that could go wrong... all kinds of infection that can set in... on top of the fact this is very very painful... have you ever seen what can happen with "home done docking & cropping"...?? its not pretty...

i have seen it... i have had dogs in rescue with very bad jobs done on ears, dews & tails... they ended up on meds for weeks to months...

i have had to have 1 older dog taken in to have his tail docked when he was older... & only because it was medically nessary... he had been hit by car & major damage done...

if you want to have the tail docked, then just get it done right & have it done by a MEDICAL PROFFESSIONAL...

THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE AT THE VET. would you allow a friend to chop off your leg in your living room?? This is surgery and as Jerz mentioned, it needs to be done when a puppy is no more than 3 days old. It is considered SUPER HIGH risk to do to an older dog and VERY VERY painful.

O my! I've never heard of doing it yourself! Definitely take them to a vet if it's within the right time frame.

It is a veterinary procedure that should only be done no later than 3 days after the puppies are born. After that nerve endings form and close to the end of the tail.

I would NEVER do docking myself I don't even do dewclaws myself. Get it done by a vet or live with long tailed Yorkies.
