I have never used "crate training" for any of my dogs. Though I have people that is worked for....I haven't used because i have also known dogs that were "crate trained" but not housetrained. You must be consistent when housetraining. take your pups out every 30minutes-hour, just let them outside give a potty "command" and let them sniff around, if they go be very excited and give lots of praise and a treat, play with them a few more minutes outside, then let them in. After a couple days of a fast schedule try to space out the time more and more....Don't play with your pup until it goes...If it doesn't go, especially after eating/drinking, then take it back in but keep it very close to you, and watch! I used a hands-free leash. I had one dog that would just stand outside and look at me, then come in and go, so that dog I would hook out, walk in and watch from a window(where they couldn't see me) when they went I would rush out praise, treat and play. If you live somewhere where the weather is mild, having your pup outside during the day (in a fence or run...or on a cable run) will help "speed" up housetraining in my option faster than a crate.

I agree with Stephanie D. Crate T. Is the most effective.

I agree. Also, remember that puppies can generally hold their urine for about 1 hour more than the number of their age in months. The schedule is very important. Crate training is the best, in my opinion. You could probably do an internet search and find a sample schedule for training your dog. Generally, they need to go out after eating, after play, after waking up from sleeping, first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

I crate trained my dog. Also, when she was a puppy we had her on a schedule. We brought her out every hour to start then two hours. Also, when she would go potty outside we gave her a treat and a "good girl" immediately while still outside. Do not wait until back in the house to give the treat it will send the wrong message. She quickly realized that she got a treat if she went outside and no treat if she went inside. She quickly realized to sit at the door when she needed to go out as well.

crate training. Also as soon as they eat put them on news paer if they are inside dogs or put them on the grass if they are outside dogs
