Q: What would you change about your breed?

If you could change anything about the breed of animal you have, what would it be? I think I'd like to have rabbit-like paws on guinea pigs, instead of their rodent-like feet, so I could take them for a walk on a leash. I think I'd also like them to be more cat-sized. And, I'd like them to be able to eat meat so I wouldn't have to throw away table scraps.

I have a poodle who is getting her adult hair and the hair gets these kinky curls and she constantly get mats no matter how much I brush her. I wish that she would keep her puppy hair forever. It is really soft and really easy to manage. But all poodles will out grow their beautiful puppy coats.

I have a Bernese Mountain Dog who is almost 2 years. We have had her since she was 9 weeks old and has been an absolute delight: easy to train, great with people of all ages, great with other animals, etc. There are two things, however, that I would love to change. First they have a short life expectancy (6-8 years) although the farm we got her from in Germany has been breeding for 100+ years and know what they are doing! Breeding standards in Europe are a lot stricter than in the US so they life expectancy is significantly higher (12 or more years!). The other thing I would change is the shedding! I have to vacuuming about 2 or 3 times a week and still can't keep up! Other than that, Bernese Mountain Dogs are the BEST!
