When my cats are not feeling too well, I give them electrolyte water. It doesn't cure their sickness but it is good for them if dehydrated, which tends to happen to a pet when s/he isn't feeling so well. The rest of the time they get tap water because the city water is treated with fluoride and it's good for their teeth.

We give all are animals tap water. I can't really afford to buy bottle water for all my animals. My whole family drinks tap water. But I guess if people can afford to by bottle water to give their pets it is their choice.

Depends on where you live, but most municipalities in the US and perfectly fine tap water - and if you filter it, its even better. That said, I buy the one gallon jugs of "drinking water" for my cats but only because I have a water fountain for them and our tap water here in Chicago is very hard and quickly gums up the fountain. Spending $1 a gallon on water every few weeks is cheaper for me than replacing the fountain every year. But I drink the tap water filtered with a Brita pitcher.

Tap water should be fine unless your community advises against drinkinjg the local water. Paying for bottled for your pets is not necessary.

I dont see a problem with tap water. If they are ok drinking out of the toilet, tap water isnt going to hurt them.

My dog drinks tap water typically....and i know this is absolutely horrible but she drinks out of the toilet which could be dangerous i suppose but if you make sure its clean then i really don't find any problem with it. However, you may not want to take my word for it because i'm not an expert. I'm just saying my dog is a healthy 13 year old dog and she drinks toilet water and she's perfectly fine.
