I have dogs, birds, parrots, and a rabbit and I'm looking for new toys for them. Any ideas?

Simone doesn't play with toys but Natale (my parrot) does and as you know with having a bird they can be expensive to buy. My vet recommended some great toy ideas that you can make by just going to the dollar store. One toy he made him was taking the paper rolls that you roll coins in and stringing them through a shoelace. The other thing I bought at the dollar store that he loved was this necklace maker for little girls . . the beads were actually sponge like materials that I strung on the necklace and he tore it apart like there was no tomorrow.

You can find various types of balls in different sizes specially made for each type of animal in stores such as Petsmart and Petco. Also parakeets and other birds love the little bells as well. All of these animals love balls made especially for their type of animal.

Bead Toy
Materials:

Hardwood beads (available at many craft stores)
Cardboard
Shoelace (unused and clean) www.tailfeathersnetwork.com/birdinformation/homemadetoys.php This site has more toys you can make:)
Instructions:

Cut the cardboard into squares.
String the cardboard through the shoelace with beads in between to separate them.
There you have it; a simple and fast toy that is sure to satisfy your bird's chewing needs.

Pretty Boy's favorite toys are the ones that have a rope, with a stuffed toy in the middle, with a squeaker.
Chunky loves any stuffed toys, even without the squeaker. They both love balls.
When we had our bird, he loved the hanging wooden toys that he could stand on, plus the hanging balls with bells in the middle, loved his swing & ladder too.

I buy stuffed animals at garage sales for 25 cents and my dogs love to play with them. Buy the soft ones, be sure they don't have the pellets in them and just throw them in the washer first. Easy and cheap.

My 3 cats like different things. Otis' FAVORITE toy is those little furry mice (the body is about 2 inches long). They have felt tails but I rip them off since Otis will eat them. Alice loves those pretty, multi-colored foil balls (they sort of look like Christmas ornaments. Lloyd will play with whatever but mostly cuddles up with me when the other two are playing.
