I would like to go camping but I know Skitters would not enjoy being away from me she is an older dog now and because of this she can't go. I really don't want to leave her in a kennel I geuss if I have to I will just stay home. If anyone knows what I could do please let me know? Skitters has a collapsing trekia and when she gets really excited it gets worse. and I would never leave her in a kennel because she would be misrable.

i would only put my dog in an outdoor kennel with a fenced in roof because she would jump the fence. She had to have a drop put into her nostrils for kennel cough. I would only do pet sitters after that. I didn't like the kennel cough ideas and she sneezed for awhile after that too. Get a little dog tent and take her with you. check out www. REI.com they have cool dog supplies for camping.

We don't do the kennel thing, only because it's my personal choice, I feel as if my dogs might think I'm not coming back :( Just one tip -- if you do the kennel thing, go to your vet first and make sure your dog has all his shots, there is some type of virus that they can get from Kennels but I can't remember which one. My vet had told me this recently, to stop in a week before being put in a kennel for certain shots. (we're doing the camping thing so we can take our dogs with us :)

Are you going somewhere that dogs are not allowed? We have taken our dog camping and he enjoys it. If you really can't take her with you, why not either, leave her with a good friend, or find a good pet sitter. There are kennels that are excellent also. Before leaving your dog in a kennel, go and tour them to make sure you find one that meets your requirements.
