You could throw them a kitty party = make your cat the center of EVERYONES attention and obviously you can have some time wiht your friedns too.. if your cat loves play mates then you can have them bring their cats over for play time... maybe everyone bring a toy and they can have a huge play fest & snuggle fest... (YOUR CAT CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY TOYS) also maybe make a cat friendly cake (im sure there are recipes on line) get a big treat bowl so your cat can fill himself/herself with lots of treats...

happy birthday kitty kat

Additional response to my answer below:

After a couple years of celebrating your kitty's birthday, your kitty will have accumulated enough toys and have all the essentials. You can still celebrate the birthdays with extra playtime and one-on-one attention, but why not start HONORING your cat's birthday by donating to your local shelter? You can either donate money and/or some toys and enclose a card stating "In Honor of ______ [your cat's name]". This will make your kitty's birthday extra special by knowing that you helped homeless animals who are less fortunate.

Kitty birthdays ARE special! I usually make or buy a small cake and decorate it with Garfield or some other cartoon character (plastic cake decorations are available in various stores), and take a picture of the birthday boy/girl with the cake. Kitty also gets his/her favorite food (e.g., Fancy Feast-grilled chicken) PLUS some turkey breast from the deli and a cat treat (e.g., The Goodlife Recipe Chicken & Beef flavor). I buy at least one new toy (doesn't have to be expensive--like a catnip mouse or interactive toy such as a feather wand) and a practical item (like Purr Pads for sleeping...or a new bed).

Even though you want to make kitty's birthday special, you don't want to OVERindulge with food/treats--use in moderation to help keep your kitty's weight under control and enable your kitty to enjoy many more birthdays.

What your kitty REALLY wants for his/her birthday is quality and quantity time you. Spend extra time playing (e.g., with a feather wand) and then take a cat nap with your kitty!

Happy Birthday, kitty!

PS Don't forget to e-mail kitty's birthday pictures to your friends/family--and post them on your Zootoo profile page.

You are not crazy for wanting to do something special for your kitty. They are a member of the family and should be treated as one! I always celebrate holidays and birthdays by giving my cats a special dinner (their usual with a little extra and some fav. cat treats hidden in it) and a new toy or six. I tend to over do it. I try to make the day special with the food since that's what they seem to love the best. Kitty nip and lots of play go a long way too. (even though I do that all the time) I like to sneak the special kitty away from the others and give them their own birthday treat that the others won't know about.
