I work for Petsmart and we have the Banfield pet hospital in our store. I have my one dog on their wellness plan. I love it and intend to ad more of my dogs to the plan. After paying a one time membership fee of around $60 I pay $21.95 a month and every six months I drop him off for a physdical and it covers all his shots and dewormings. It also covers the cost of office visits anytime. I also get a discount anytime he needs anything not covered by the plan. He's been on 2 years and the only extras I've payed for so far have been persriptions. janice524

We have VPI insurance for our pets! we pay about 300 per dog per year, however, it is worth it if anything disastrous every happened. It is not really like our human health plans, but it will help if the dogs get really sick or need surgery etc. We basically don't care if we use it since that means our dogs are healthy!!! It does cover once a year vaccines, blood work, etc. But mostly it is for emergencies, etc.

I would recommend pet insurance to anyone and everyone.

I've been using VPI (www.petinsurance.com) for many years now. During that time I've covered both my birds and cats.

A couple of years back one of our cats wasn't eating or using the litter and we became worried. After a trip to the vet, some tests, and subsequent exploratory intestinal sugrery, we were looking at just shy of $2000 in vet expenses. The good news was that our little guy came through it with flying colors after having a small benign tumor and other blockages removed from his intestine. Even better news came when we received a check back from VPI for well over half of the cost.

Needless to say I'm an advocate of VPI, but whether you choose them or choose to go with one of the other options mentioned in these responses I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised if/when (heaven forbid) you need to use it.
