Q: What kind of pet door can you use with dogs and strictly indoor cats?
Does anyone have any advice? I have two strictly indoor cats but want to find a pet door for my three dogs (they've recently decided to start chewing on my furniture when I'm home and can't go outside).

you can have the doggie door go out into a kennel run so that the cats can not get out of the kennel and out in the open. and the dogs can go out when they need to. of course you will need to put a roof on the kennel run so the cats can't climb out

there are some high-tech options out there. they involve an electronic transmitter on the collar. they stay locked until a pet with a transmitter tries to use the door, keeping out unwanted animals and keeping in those that should stay in. they're expensive, and i imagine that a very determined cat might manage to get out as the dog was coming in or out, but you might want to explore that option.

Sorry that I can't be more helpful with this question. I had no luck with the doors that are installed on screen doors. I have bought several in the past and they eventually pulled away from the screen. That was some time ago so I'm sure that they've come along way now.
