I was just curios to know this, do you think $10 is an outragous price for a nail trim cause I don't think so what do you think this is the petco price. what do you think?

Also I know all the pet groomers at petco they are really nice and do a good job if they need help with a dog that they have to groom they call in their proffessoinal dog trainer who I also know they are all very nice and all of them are trained and they are all proffessional groomers. They will not hire a groomer that does not have any excperince I have applied for jobs there before and the only person they hire with no training are sales assicotes and Assistant groomers. But they work with the assistant groomers before they let them loose to groom on their own.

No, i dont think its rediculous. I go to a groomers and pay $10 for each pup. And if i want the vet to do it, it would cost $25, now thats rediculous.

$10 sounds very reasonable and fair.
the reason groomers must be trained before applying is the amount of education is takes to be a groomer. not that they go to school for an excessive time, but you have to learn how to cut an assortment of dogs w/an assortment of tools and which goes w/which...it's just a lot to learn. paying someone while they're learning costs money. on the flip side, trainers don't need to know much. obedience can be pretty basic, and that's what you pay for at a place like petco. when you get out of basic obedience, you start to delve more and more into behaviorist training, and behaviorists don't work at petco. it's like the difference of teaching sit, stay, and come vs making corrections based on a dog's behavior {like chewing b/c of separation anxiety}.

i heard something on a local radio station the other day about some kind of event going on for some Humane Society in another parish, advertising doggie nail trimming for "just $25".

i'd pay $10 to have my dog's nails trimmed before i'd do it myself...but not at Pet Co. their "groomers" aren't very highly trained. i'd rather have a pet care professional do it, and most vet's offices are pretty reasonable.

I don't think that is an outrageous price. Everyone and every business needs to make money. With businesses, they have overhead costs....business license, insurance, rent, etc. Your Vetrinarian might be marginally cheaper beacuse he is billing you for other services such as shots, exam, etc. If your happy with the service at Petco then it sounds like an ok price.

Its a fair price. My vet charges $8...but then you have an "office visit" charge on that. Some vets will waive it for you but not always. I took my hound over to PETCO for trims. The only problem I ever had was a curious lady who wondered if my dog was abused. My girl had just been retired from the track less than two weeks so she looked typically underweight and every rib showed. Anything more than $10 I think is too much.
