Q: What is your favorite herding breed ?
Lots of folks, including many trainers, seem to prefer herding breeds. why is this? If you have a herding breed, what kind do you have and what do you like about him/her?

My neighbor has an Australian Cattle Dog and loves her. She is very loyal to her and also herds her 6 cows daily, so is doing the job she was meant to do and having a great life. Too many herding dogs, I think, are stuck at home doing nothing and get into mischief because of boredom and low activity.

I'm being only a tad facetious when I say Papillon. I once heard them described as "tiny Border Collies" and I'm beginning to believe it. They want to herd the ducks, cats, and each other.

My dog is a terrier mix, but my friend has an Australian Sheppard. I am amazed at how smart she is and, although she is a pet, she will heard everyone into one room. She is not happy until she has everyone in site.
I have also been very fond of the Boarder Collie. I love their intelligence and agility
