Take your cat to the vet immediately to find out the cause of her weight loss & cough. There are a lot of things that can affect a senior cat & cause these kinds of symptoms or variations of them: hypothyroidism, diabetes, renal failure or other kidney disease, inflammatory bowel disease, cancer, the list goes on. Most of these ailments have a good prognosis with the proper treatment & your cat can live out her life feeling well & being happy. I am caring for a 14yo cat in renal failure right now. As long as she stays on the proper diet & takes her meds she is feeling fine for now.

I wonder if you have changed food lately? When we moved Bo kitty from other food to Purina one, he lost a lot of weight. I'd still take him to the vet, if you can.
