toxidia or coccidia? coccidia is a microscopic parasite found in their intestines. this can be fatal for kittens and puppies and should be treated immediately. for adult cats and dogs, it's rarely life threatening. coccidia is extremely common though. adult animals can work through the infestation on their own, however, they should be given treatment to avoid severe infestations that can lead to other problems.
your cat was probably given a plunger of yucky meds, yeah? he or she will need another one in about two weeks and the parasites will more than likely be gone. if your cat continues to have exceptionally foul smelling diarrhea after their second dose, they still have the parasites. if this happens, call your vet.
there was a question on here about a year ago about toxidia and i remember thinking, "what the heck is that?" i'm pretty certain they just meant coccidia too and that toxidia is just a misunderstanding. coccidia is pronounced cox-id-E-uh.

I just know it as an intestinal parasite. I presume your vet presribed some type of medicine to "kill" the bug. If so, you might be able to get a better idea of what your cat actually has by Goggling the prescription to see what it is prescribed for--and among those things would be what your cat probably has.
