I walk my dog every day for about an hour. Is that enough exercise or should I do something else with him?

How much exercise a dog needs really depends on the breed and the individual dog. There are other things you can do with you dog for exercise like take him swimming, play frisbee, etc. Some dogs also need to be mentally challenged to be fully worn out. We play the find game where we hide something or someone and they must find them. That is usually a pretty challenging game and they love it so much!

it does depend on the size of the dog, the bigger the more exercise needed and not as much if its a small breed. My dog weights bout 80 pounds and just walking him for 2 hours isnt enough, its a minimum.

It depends on how old he is, what kind of dog he is, and how big, (or fat) he is.

I think it just depends on the size of the dog. My dog is a medium sized mutt and he only needs about 45 minutes of walking. But we also have a a fenced in backyard, so he gets more exercise.

it dose depend on the dog, mine needed more than that, some days i would bike ride and he would run along side, and on days where we only waked we through a ball around for a little bit too just so he could run some

What kind of dog is it? some of the labs, retrievers, etc need more exercise than just a walk, even if it is an hour long. On the other hand, my cocker would give up after a half an hour. Good for you for walking your dog so often though.

Depends on your dog- the type, age and activity level. I know when it was nice out we did 2 or 3 different 1 hour walks a day and our dog still wasn't tired. He would then drop his balls or toys down the stairs and chase it. We did a lot of search and find also during the super cold days (it isn't right to be outside when it is -25 for human or pet). I think it is great that you are making time for an hour walk though!! Good job to you!

so much depends on your dog's personality. When my lab mix was younger, she needed the walk in the morning plus plenty of play time at night. Now that she's older, not so much.

If you're walking properly with her following or beside you, that's excellent to drain her physical and mental energies.

But depending on her breed and age, she may require more physical exercise such as running games--fetch, frisbee, etc. When summertime comes, running alongside a bike is great too.
