Q: What is the best way to potty train?
I have a new puppy that I'm having a hard time potty training. I use those pads for inside my house but I would like to train him to go outside.

Just keep taking him outside. When going out go out the same door every time so he understands that's where he needs to go when he has to go. When you get outside say go potty and reward him when he goes. You dont always have to give him a treat just get excited and tell him good boy/girl. Good luck!

Talk to your vet about crate training. With crate training you give your dog a specific area where it's ok for him to go. When he goes in this spot show it to him and then bring him outside. Eventually it will associate going potty with going outside. Just look up crate training and ask questions. It's a simple and effective method.

You have to take him out after napping for sure, and after he eats, take him to the same place in the yard and he'll get the idea that's where to go. It will take a lot of patience on your part but will be worth it. They always have to go after waking up.
