They have so many out there....Eukenuba, Nutro, Science Diet, Blue Buffalo, Iams....I am at a loss! I don't want to pay more for expensive brands if some of the less expensive brands are just as nutritious. Does anyone use Beneful? How is that?

I would not recommend anything you have heard of or seen on TV before. Eukanuba, Iams, Beniful, Science Diet and Nutro are not the best foods out there. They have fillers and some have by-products and corn gluten (the stuff that was making dogs sick during the pet food recall a few years ago). I think you should go with Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul Large breed formula or even Canidae or if you wanna get a bit more pricey Wellness.

These brands are much more natural and will give your dog a great coat. But If you want to do more research, go to your local pet store with a pad and paper and write down the ingredient in some pet foods that you have no idea what they are. It helps to understand what's in your pet's food!

the simplest answer is ANY food that has between 20-25% protein, and no corn, no wheat, no soy, no glutens, no vegetable proteins, and no byproducts. Those basic criteria will rule out 95% or more of the dog foods available.

Also, don't fall for the large breed puppy food hype. most large breed formulas are actually too high in protein to be healthy for large breed puppies.

this may sound too easy but when there were litters of newf through trial and error we found the feed store brand was what they did the best on. and the best part it was the cheapest. i guess each feed store has a different one so try it and see.
